Morbida the Starlet

Morbida loves her pet spider, Venom. She takes him with her everywhere she can. Unfortunately, not everyone likes him quite as much as she does.

Zero

Zero's full name is Zero Joy. He is the proud owner of the dog "Bonze". Zero is not quite your average kid, with his morbid little slippers, and his skull diaper pins, he relay is one of a kind. His favorite things are his skull Pacifier, his coffin rocker, and sleeping all day. He also relay lives is Mommy, if you cant tell from the tattoo on his arm. On the other hand, he hates Sunshine and Rainbows.

A Day in the BeGoths Studio Part two

I must say that I was so lucky to get to visit the studio, and see "behind the scenes" in the creating of the dolls. Everyones desk showed both their personality, and even possibly some inspirations for their work. Ben, one of the sculptors had a very interesting desk area, and he also showed me an amazing sculpting program they use sometimes. They still do much by hand, and it was just awesome seeing the place where so many amazing things have been "created". This picture is me with Ben.

While I was visiting this amazing place, I also purchased several dolls, and and had Steve Varner sign them all, and I had one doll (Evening Storm) that I had everyone that was there sign. She is now one of my prized possessions! Not only did I feel like I visited a great place and met some talented people, but I also feel like I made some friends that day. I can't imagine any other company that cares so much about their customers.

Ariana

Ariana is not your average little tike. She is a fan of spiders, if you could not tell from the spider web gloves she is wearing, and her full name, which is "Spiders Arania Graves. She has 2 small ped Violin Spiders names "Frank" & Stein"This little gal just loves her coffin shaped cradle, and its about the only place she will sleep.

Starlet of the week: Morbida

This weeks featured "starlet" will be Miss Morbida B.Weir. I mentioned in a previous entry she was the first ever doll I bought, so she has a special place in my heart. She is a 7 inch doll from series 1.

This girl is favorite color is, of course, black. Morbida adores spiders, and has one for a pet named Venom. He may look big and nasty, but he's as sweet as can be. Morbida loves it when it rains. Something about the pitter-patter of rain-drops is just soothing to her. She is not much a fan of sunlight, thus is never too excited to see rainbows at the end of the storm, she would just rather it rained all the time.
One of her favorite pastimes is watching horror films, and eating black licorice (even better when she does both at once).

My thought on a theme song for Morbida; Raised in Black "Oh My Goth".
Please return this week for more information and images on Morbida.

Series One Kindergoths

These are the Series one Kindergoths. These lovable 12 inch friends are not your average "stuffed animal". Nightshade, Zero, and Ariana are anything but your average little tikes. With their stiched up lips, and "accessories" they have much more personality. Bonze and Voodoo are definately not your average pets either! All this week I will feature one Kindergoth from series one.

The Crypt club is something you have heard me mention before. I highly recommend joining if you are at all interested in collecting the dolls. Not one do you get a wonderful package if you join, but you also get access to buying the "crypt club exclusive" dolls. Being able to buy the dolls directly from the bleeding edge store is just wonderful! It is also almost the only way to get the Morbida Red Dress exclusive figure.
Bleeding Edge is also a company that thinks much of their customers. They have many contests, with great prices, and often times, you must be a crypt club member to participate. So why are you still here, go check out the crypt club! Ohh yes, here is the link for your Crypt Club Membership.

The second version available is the Hysteria Venom Purple Exclusive. She is limited to 500. Exclusive are one of the many benefits to having a crypt club membership.
There is also a chase version of Hysteria with tan skin.

Come back for even more images latter in the week!

Cosplay Part II

These are my entries as Trinity for the cosplay contest. This cosplay was a bit more challanging. First of all is the hair. My hair is all one collor, so I had to figure out what to do to make the ends look Blue! Well luckily my photographer also did air brushing, so we painted my hair! Once the hair was done, he then air-brushed the makeup on. Boy that was interesting! But it was about the only way to appropriately acheive the look. The next fun part about this outfut was not so much the outfit, but the accessories. I fabricated a Silver Key, and then a ball and chain to go around my ankle. Once I had the ball and chain on my ankle, and those heels on, I was next to Imobile! Im sure it was quite the site to see... but it was fun! I realy enjoyed this contest. To see what contests are going on, be sure to check out the most recent Newsletter.

Toon Week 2

In honor of Thanksgiving, I fealt the official toon of the week was a perfect fit.

Happy Thanksgiving!

For more goth toons, don't forget to check out Rebecca's Realm .

Morbid Curiosity

Did you know that the average human eats 8 spiders in their lifetime at night? Did you also know that you are more likely to be killed by a champagne cork than by a poisonous spider? Find out more morbid facts like these on the Morbid Cutiosities page.

Hysteria the starlet

Seeing that Thanksgiving is tomorrow, I thought this picture of Hysteria would be festive. So happy Thanksgiving to all! In the second picture, she is showing off one of her tattoos!
Hysteria's favorite movie Is "nightmare Before Christmas", and she just loves Jack and Sally.
She is also a fan of cotton candy. She can eat the pink stuff all day long!
She has a great dislike for country music, and far prefers things that are a bit darker.

Soon, I will post information on this doll, and the varieties that are available.

A day in the BeGoths Studio Part one

Monday, October 24, 2005 I was lucky enough to visit the studio where the creative minds behind the Bleeding Edge Co. go to do their work. It was an amazing, wonderful visit for me. Not many company's will take the time out of a busy work day to give someone like me (a REALLY big fan), a tour. This picture is me with several people from the company. From the top row we have James, me (with the doll) Steve Varner, Siw Varner, Stefan Varner, and Veronica. On the lower row is Matthew and Toni.
On my tour, I got to see the conference room, a place I'm sure is continually full of creative ideas. I also saw the desks of the people in the company. Ben was working on sculpting, while James was working on the Goth toon for the week, and Matthew was working on a new poster design that will soon be for sale. Steve was very busy working on a project with a soon approaching deadline. Even though everyone was busy, they all took time to talk with me a little.
I will tell more about this amazing trip in another post!

Starlet of the week: Hysteria

Hysteria Venom is this weeks starlet of the week. She is from series 2 of the 7 inch dolls. When asked her favorite color, simply black wount do, it must be "realy dark black". If you cant tell from the picture, she loves her pet snake, Hector. Suprisingly enough, she also has a cat, named ShooBoo. The cat and the snake appear to get along, although I don't know that I woudl want to be in a room alone with those 2!
Hysteria loves to dance, especially with strobe lights going. She goes out to a club any chance she gets! She also loves roller coasters, and she tries ride a new one every year. Of course this mans traveling, and going to new parks, but a girl's gotta do what a girls gotta do!

Stay tuned this week for more information on and images of Hysteria. Also, dont forget you can always find out information at www.begoths.com.

Accessories

Animation made by SterlingBleeding Edge had several Accessories available if you are a crypt club member. They have shirts for you to wear, buttons with pictures of the dolls, to pin onto things, doll stands, what more can you ask for! Be sure to check them out.

Autumn Snow

This is the "clear shot" version of Autumn, mentioned in the previous post about the "types" of dolls available. She looks just like an ice sculpture. She looks as though she deserves to have a kingdom in the snow.
She has made a lovely "starlet" of the week, and if you have more interest in her, be sure to check out the official Bleeding Edge Goths web site, and please return to see who will be the next starlet of the week!

Cosplay!

Bleeding edge Goths, along with Lee's Toy Review had a wonderful contest recently. It was a cosplay contest, involving dressing up as the dolls. I entered 2 entires, and this is my winning costume! I dressed as Angelica Noir (shes the one in the center). I made most of the costume, and had a lot of fun with this contest. There were a few people who entered this contest. To see all the winners, be sure to check out the Press section on the Begoths page.
Imagine, being a real life Goth doll for a little while! I picked Angelica Noir, because I fealt she was the one I most looked like, and that I could make the costume quite easily. I bought the wings, at a local costume supply store, but had to paint them, as they were white! That just would not do! The skirt was probably the most difficult thing to sew about the costume, I think I went through a total of 7 sewing machine needles on that alone! Needless to say, it was loads of fun from start to finish. Next week I will post some pictures from my other Cosplay entry!

Varner Studios

The Creative genius behind the Bleeding Edge Goths was not created over night. Steve Varner has been sculpting toys for over 30 years. He has done everything from McDonald's toys, to his famous Tomb Raider Statues. He did it the hard way, as a free-lance artist. My kudos to him for that! In February of 2003 at the New York Toy Fair, Steve Varner announced the Launch of the new company "Bleeding Edge Goths". Now, we get to look forward to seeing his creative talents on a regular basis, as each new series are announced!

Varieties of Autumn

There are several varieties of this doll available. There is the regular version, which I have pictured previously. There is also the clear version which is quite an amazing thing indeed. She looks much like an ice sculpture. One can put any color light under the doll, to change her appearance. I think this is such a clever idea! She is limited to 200. I will post a picture of this version soon.

The second available version is the glow in the dark version. She has a purple looking dress, but the doll glows! How cool is that. This version is limited to 300.

The 3rd version is the PBM Autumn. She is quite difficult to get ahold of, especially here in the US. She wears a lovely purple dress, that fades to black at the base. This doll is very limited in number, and I've only been lucky enough to see one ever.

The final version is the "black first shot". These are limited to 100, and are a very cool product if you are a collector, or an artist yourself. I have heard of several people painting their own!

My First doll

The first ever Bleeding edge Goth doll I got was Morbida. Now one very cool thing about BeGoths (the nickname many have for the doll) is that they will make several versions of the same doll. They have not only the regular version, but also the exclusive versions for those who are a "Crypt Club Member", and "chase" figures. This makes it fun for collecting! Well, the version of Morbida that was my first ever BeGoth was the Comic Con exclusive. In this version, she wears a red dress, vs the black dress.

The doll I bought was signed by Steve Varner, the creative genius behind the BeGoths. She will always be treasured to me, because she was my first ever BeGoths Doll.

Toon of the week

Image Property of Bleeding Edge Goths Inc. All Rights Reserved (c)

Each week, Bleeding Edge features a "toon", the creative team came up with.
I will post one toon each week to "feature" it here in my blog. Some of these toons will be old, and some new.
To check out the official toon of the week, go to Rebecca's Realm

Autumn the Starlet

And here as promised, more on our starlet of the week. Autumn is a gal not seen out much during the day. These photos were taken just before sunset at the Lafayette cemetery in New Orleans. She does quite enjoy the solitude of places like this. She feels more at home in places less "crowded" with the noise of the living.
Even with her dislike of too many humans, she always dressed to impress. With her long slinky gowns, she seems serpentine in her movements. Maybe its just the fangs, but we are not convinced of that!

This doll is available in several varieties. Return later this week for more information on Autumn.

How did I find out about bleeding edge goths?

Well, that's a very valid question. Gothic Beauty Magazine issue # 10 came out in about October 2003, and I was flipping through it as I often do, and low and behold, there were some AWESOME dolls pictured in an article. I had to buy the magazine (www.gothicbeauty.com). I knew I was hooked after reading about them, and seeing the pictures of them. Immediately after getting home, I went to www.begoths.com, and I got to see the splendor of the dolls in color! I immediately began to await the release of series one!

Starlet of the week

I'm going to feature a "starlet" of the week every week. When a doll is featured, I will post pictures, and tell a bit about the doll. I'm really doing this in no specific order, so don't think I'm giving some dolls preferential treatment! They will each get a turn.

For this, the first week, I'm going to feature Miss Autumn Von Sanguine. She is one of the 7 inch dolls from series 3.
To tell you a bit about this vicious beauty, her favorite color is of course, black. Autumn is not much of a people person. She far prefers those cold blooded for companionship. For a pet, she has a Chinese water Dragon named Botox. She's verges on being a bit cold blooded herself. She LOVES space heaters.
On her list of favorite things are such items as Gammera; The Invincible! He's The Super-Monster even the H-Bomb cannot destroy (or Daikaiju Gamera in the original 1965 Japanese version)! Foods she enjoys are Blood sausages and Violet Crumble Ice Cream (Yumm, that honeycomb candybar mixed in with ice cream!).
She has a great distaste for daylight, and prefers to not have to be about during the day. In other words, don't expect to see this vixen getting much sun!
My Theme song for Autumn: Rasputina, Transilvanian Concubine

Stay posted this week for more on Autumn, this weeks "starlet".
